Movie Review: Kotha Bangaru Lokam

Kotha Bangaru Lokam stars Varun Sandesh, Sweta Basu Prasad, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Ahuti Prasad, Brahmanandam and Rao Ramesh.
The movie is a 21st century love story set on the banks of the Godavari. The boy (Varun Sandesh) is the son of friendly middleclass couple (Prakash Raj & Jayasudha). The girl (Sweta Basu Prasad) is the wealthy daughter of a very strict and conservative father.
Boy and girl study in a residential college of Godavari district. Boy and girl fall in love. Girl's dad finds out about the affair. Dad gets enraged and takes her away from the school. Boy and girl are heartbroken. What would they have to do to get back together? Watch the movie to find out.
Although the above synopsis seems a tad cliched, the treatment is quite good. Kotha Bangaru Lokam avoids the long line of boring and predictable scenarios of the boy and girl fighting to be together; the movie instead takes a quirky turn and eases towards something warm and entertaining.
Varun Sandesh slips into the role of the boy comfortably and delivers a performance better than his previous outing in Happy Days. His natural charm outweighs his adolescent dialogue delivery.
Sweta Basu Prasad is excellent as the adorable girl in love. In case you didn't already know, Sweta was last seen as Shreyas Talpade's kid sister in Iqbal. She has grown into a pretty and talented actress - we'd like to see more of her in the future.
First time director Srikanth Addala shows a lot of promise, he would definitely give Bhaskar (of Bommarilu fame) a run for his money. Like Bommarilu, this movie avoids all the irritating melodrama and tasteless toilet humor. The script gets 5 stars, especially for the way the second half of the movie calmly floated.
The cinematography is top notch. The Godavari bridge pictured in the movie has never looked so beautiful. Music by Mickey J Meyer adds to the joy . Full marks here too.
Forget Kidnap ...forget Drona ... forget Hello, watching Kotha Bangaru Lokam brings back fond memories of Intermediate College. Whether you like feeling nostalgic or not, this movie gets India.com's recommendation.

The is successfull in all regions.the songs are excellent. prakash raj,jaya sudha,brahmanandam acted very well.entirley the theme is good.herione is one of attraction

I agree but if u analyse all indian movie'll have some or other blunders we are faaaaaaaaaaaaar.... behind as compared to Hokkywood. and we hav got used to it and in that sense this movie is a cool movie and makes us happy for 3 hrs.
An average movie
All characters performance is good.one or two songs are good.this movie gave a great msg.to teenagers to be carefull about their carrier.brahmanandam as a principal is excellent.

An average movie ..
This movie needs some serious editing. It needs to be trimmed.
I appreciate the director for choosing teenage love story as a topic as it is a very challenging one. He has done justice to the movie, but could have surely done better. And its a bold move from a director of telugu movies to try to differentiate love and attraction.
The climax was good but abrupt. The last 5 mins needed to be longer. Some more emphasis on his college days would have been great. I have only one question to ask. If he remembered her all throughout the 4 years of his engineering , y didnt he ever try to find out about her whereabouts?
Bottom line .. movie is clean , but needs a little more thought and surely a lot of editing
worst movie
This movie as a whole sucks. The story desccriptions is week. NO where in AP , Girls and boys stay in the same Hostel campus . The songs are good. But the place ment of the songs is bad. The screen play is bad. Prakash raj's performance is good. Please do not spoil the culture which is already half way spoiled.

I agree ..one of the worst movies...y do you spoil the minds of students ..at this age ...there is no msg ..horrible movie...dnot ever encourage such movies....
Pl do think abt the impact that u r creating on the minds of people...dnot just create movie to show ur creativity...
Think of ur daughter in that situation and direct a movie....
